As we reported earlier, the International Federation of Pueri Cantores held its general assembly in Paris in the last week of August, which was also covered by the Magyar Kurír.
The Hungarian delegation received an extremely warm welcome, which, according to the unanimous opinion of the national presidents, was due to the fact that a country with such a high standard of choral artistry, the country of Kodály, the Bárdos brothers, and Bartók, had finally become a full member of the association, and they expressed their hope that the Pueri Cantores Hungarian Federation would revitalize the entire association. The Hungarian federation received several compliments from the presidency of the international federation and delegates from several countries for its spectacular development and active participation in the work of the international federation.

At the reception on Friday evening, Matthias Balzer, the outgoing vice president and new general manager, raised the possibility of holding the world congress to be organized in 2030 or 2031 in Hungary. The event will be held in Malaga in 2027, then in Rome in 2028/29, followed by Hungary. Of course, this has not yet been decided, but it is certainly a sign that the establishment of the PCHF is being taken very seriously and our work is greatly appreciated.
In view of the thousand-year-old historical friendship between Poland and Hungary, the idea arose that in the current situation, when political interests do not exactly suggest peaceful coexistence, it would be worthwhile to hold Polish-Hungarian meetings, even on a regular basis.
Elisabeth Lehmann-Dronke, president of the German association, initiated closer ties between German and Hungarian choirs.
The Saturday general meeting, which lasted almost the entire day, was conducted in a very positive atmosphere. Elisabeth von Waldstein was unanimously elected President as the sole candidate, and she nominated José Martinez Gonzalez of Spain and Marco Aurelio Lischt of Brazil as her Vice-Presidents. Alberto Veggiotti of Italy will remain Secretary, and Danielle Perri, also of Italy, will be the Treasurer.
We wish them great success in their work and assure them of our support in achieving our common goals. A report on the General Assembly can also be found on the International Federation’s website.
